Gooney’s – Elevating a Local Eatery with Data-Driven Social Media Strategy
Gooney’s is a casual, family-owned restaurant serving freshly made arepas and sandwiches in Ottawa. When I began working with them, their digital presence was minimal and lacked a strategic approach. Our goal was to build brand awareness, increase engagement, and drive more foot traffic — all through a consistent and authentic social media presence.
What We did…
We began with a full audit of their Instagram and Facebook accounts, then implemented a custom strategy combining visual content, local collaborations, and brand storytelling. Our approach focused on maintaining Gooney’s casual and fun personality while driving traffic and visibility.
Over just four months (Feb–Jun 2025), our efforts generated impressive growth on Instagram:
We also launched promotions that generated major traction without needing a special menu, reflecting the brand’s casual approach. By collaborating with local foodies and encouraging user-generated content, Gooney’s gained authentic exposure and was featured on several popular food pages in Ottawa.
